Solar energy innovator Konarka is on a mission to prove that you can eat your own sustainable cake. The Massachusetts company has launched a pilot project that will integrate its active solar glass walls into a building called a curtain wall. Inc. and Arch-Konarksa have teamed up to demonstrate that active solar glass walls could enable structures and buildings to generate sustainable energy for internal operation.
The pilot project between Konarka and Arch is designed to generate 1.5 kilowatts per building, based on the peak power of 40 watts per panel. The following is a sunshot report based on a report by the US Department of Energy's National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL).
